Overview

Moshe (Mooky) Ron  is a translator, editor, scholar and writer. Born in 1945, he grew up in Tel Aviv, went to Alliance High School in Ramat Aviv, holds a B.A. degree in Romance Languages and English Literature from Hebrew University of Jerusalem (1968) and a Ph.D. in Comparative Literature from Yale University (1975).


He is Professor Emeritus of English Literature and Comparative Literature at Hebrew University of Jerusalem (where he taught 1975 – 2007). Held various editorial positions at the Hebrew Encyclopedia, Siman Kri’a (literary journal), Keter Publishers, Hakibutz Hameuchad and from 2002 to 2020 co-editor of Sifriyah La’am at Am Oved Publishers.


Has translated from English, French and Spanish, notably all of Raymond Carver’s short stories (6 collections for Keter, Am Oved, Hakibutz Hameuchad),of De la grammatologie by Jacques Derrida (Resling) and of Los detectives salvajes by Roberto Bolaño (Am Oved, in collaboration with Adam Blumenthal).
